Donna Berger lost her family of three young children and spouse in a tragic car accident. She could not rescue her family from the flaming car despite her efforts. She suffered severe burns throughout her body. Years later, Donna wrote a book about her experience. She permitted me to share her thoughts about my role in her healing.

“From the beginning of our first visit, I knew I had found someone who could guide me through the difficult road ahead. With Bob’s help, I took two steps forward and one step back. The backward ones were sometimes gigantic, but Bob helped me keep it all in perspective. He would find a way to help me feel the tiniest bit better. The countless tears I spilled in his office eroded countless pebbles from my mountain of grief.

For almost three years, Bob journeyed with me through my grief. He helped me come to terms with the agonizing pain (both physical and emotional) and provided me with the coping mechanisms I needed to get through each day…or even hour. He gently cleared a path to enable me to anticipate what I might encounter in my sorrow and depression. Bob, you will always hold a special place in my heart for your empathy, friendship, and kind and caring spirit. You provided me with comfort and rest when I needed it most.”
